Construction Repairs Specialist

Reports to: Construction Manager

Department: Repairs
Classification: Non-Exempt, Hourly, PT
Supervises: None

Job Summary: The Repairs Specialist is responsible for carrying out the construction aspects of the
Affiliate’s in-house Repairs Program. Key aspects of the role involve working directly with volunteers,
professional subcontractors, and material vendors. When not actively working on homeowner repairs, the
Repairs Specialist assists the Construction Manager.

Essential Functions:
1. Leads all repairs operations (renovations, repairs)
2. Schedules all phases of on-site repairs operations
3. Provides the Construction Manager with a weekly repairs schedule
4. Briefs Construction Manager weekly on project progress
5. Informs Construction Manager of any delays in the repairs process
6. Provides the Construction Manager with foreseeable logistical needs
7. Ensures repair goals are met and all projects are completed within the timeframe specified by required
parameters (grant requirements, etc.)
8. Represents Habitat and the Affiliate in repairs related matters as requested

Job Requirements:
Education
 High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Certifications:
 Obtains and maintains Habitat Competent Person Safety Certification
 Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Training, and Experience:

requirements.

6. Takes initiative to learn, develop oneself, and see things through from start to finish.
7. Ability to engage in active listening and communicate complex information to various
audiences.
8. Demonstrates superior interpersonal communication skills
9. Two (2) years of residential maintenance experience
10. Possesses general knowledge of all aspects of the construction process
11. Possess general knowledge of all building trades
12. Possesses the ability to determine material requirements
13. Ability to delegate and assign tasks to Volunteers
14. Advise Volunteers in the repair process

Essential Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to converse verbally and in writing with others.
2. Ability to utilize general office equipment, Internet, and various software programs.
3. Ability to travel to various job site locations and in-person meetings throughout the region.
4. Involves working in an outdoor environment regularly exposed to extreme temperature, extreme
noise, fumes, dust, etc.
5. Ability to lift, carry, and transport up to 50 pounds.
6. Ability to speak, hear, and see.
7. Ability to sit, stand, push, pull, climb, or stoop.
